Kabukiza Theatre

Kabukiza Theatre is a kabuki specialty theater located in Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, where Shochiku presents a wide range of performances from classical to new works. Performances that change their seasonal face along with glamorous events such as name-taking ceremonies gather audiences from home and abroad as a stage representing Japanese traditional performing arts.

Journey as a Ginza landmark

The first theater is said to have opened in 1889 (Meiji 22). Through fires and redevelopment, the building has been rebuilt several times, and the current facility is the 5th generation. With the spring 2013 reopening, it was reborn as the complex facility "Ginza Kabukiza" integrating Kabukiza Tower and others. While preserving the traditional roof silhouette and equipped with modern seismic resistance and facilities, it stands in Ginza as a symbol of "Japanese aesthetics."

Many months feature a two-part system with Day and Night performances, with start times varying by performance. Some programs offer "Hitomakumi" (single-act viewing) tickets, making it accessible to first-time visitors. As foreign language viewing support, rental of English and Chinese (Simplified) subtitle displays and sales programs with English summaries may be available.
